I submitted a contest on www.smcars.net about modeling lightweight cars : the “Light is Right” contest, of course name after the famous quote from the very famous Colin Chapman. Nothing more than about 950kg !
The deadline is for end of August. So far, we’re 12 competitors. Of course I’m in the contest, with a 2004 Ariel Atom II.

I keep trying to get some nice studio-style renderings. Last render I’ve got is here :

I like the way the paint catches the light. Still may be improved but a nice step took from my previous attempts.
This is my latest work. I discovered the car thanks to an article in a french magazine (Sport Auto, issue of march 2006) Here are the latest pics I produced on it :

I’m modeling from the blueprint available on the net : I found this one on www.smcars.net :

I posted about it on www.smcars.net and www.cg-cars.net. I’m currently spending some time adding details and playing with materials.
Here’s my latest work on the DB9 modeling. Still same rendering setup as previous post on it.

New parts are :

- Proximity sensors at the bottom of the rear bumper
- A license plate at the rear (with nothing on it for the moment) : I think I’wont put anyone on the front, it doesn’t suit the car at all !
Here’s my latest work on the Aston Martin DB9 :

I’ve also played with colours : here’re some test renders showing 3 different colours for the same model :

DB9 modeling process is going on. Here’s what I’ve got so far :

The last render is a test to have an overview of rendered headlights. Materials will be enhanced, hopefully.
Just a few screenshots from my DB9 model in Blender to show the way I’m getting from blueprints to a full model. Still to be completed, as the model is not yet complete.
Not so many words here, please pay attention to the pictures. All information is in them.
