Found on BlenderNation, this article by Itchy is really interesting and worth full-reading : it explains the basic principles of lighting and the way different kinds of lighting works :
- First page is about light and the mechanics behind it,
- Second page is about the effects on a photo of the light location,
- Third page is showing the different lighting possible at different hours or with differents weather.

I’ll show you how to use this material in Blender to produce simple but realistic lighting. As usual, I will produce some renders with YafRay.

I’m glad and happy to introduce the new version of my site.
The previous one has been powered by WordPress for the full first year. It’s time to say good bye to it, welcome to my own personal blog engine. It’s developed with CakePHP and MySQL, using Eclipse and PDT.

In a very Web2.0 fashion, I consider the site as beta. I would be very happy to heard of any bug you can encounter here. Please also don’t hesitate to report me any idea / suggestion you can get.
I hope the next year will show as much as progress for my skills as the previous one.
Thanks for reading !
I keep trying to get some nice studio-style renderings. Last render I’ve got is here :

I like the way the paint catches the light. Still may be improved but a nice step took from my previous attempts.
This is my latest work. I discovered the car thanks to an article in a french magazine (Sport Auto, issue of march 2006) Here are the latest pics I produced on it :

I’m modeling from the blueprint available on the net : I found this one on www.smcars.net :

I posted about it on www.smcars.net and www.cg-cars.net. I’m currently spending some time adding details and playing with materials.
Here’s my latest work on the DB9 modeling. Still same rendering setup as previous post on it.

New parts are :
- Part of side mirrors : is missing the base plate for the moment
- Preliminary rear fog lights
- Proximity sensors at the bottom of the rear bumper
- A license plate at the rear (with nothing on it for the moment) : I think I’wont put anyone on the front, it doesn’t suit the car at all !
Here’s my latest work on the Aston Martin DB9 :

I’ve also played with colours : here’re some test renders showing 3 different colours for the same model :

Since I restart some attempts to get a realistic car paint shader, I searched over the net. And I’ve found rather interesting articles.

Both are from Matt Ebb, you can show his site at http://mke3.net/.

DB9 modeling process is going on. Here’s what I’ve got so far :

The last render is a test to have an overview of rendered headlights. Materials will be enhanced, hopefully.
Just a few screenshots from my DB9 model in Blender to show the way I’m getting from blueprints to a full model. Still to be completed, as the model is not yet complete.
Not so many words here, please pay attention to the pictures. All information is in them.
Step 0, I setup my blueprint :

Step 1, I model major bodylines, to have a sketch of the car :
